MeridiYIN'z Yoga May 2012~
MeridiYIN'z Yoga was created by Stacey Swanson, a transplant to Little Rock six years ago. MeridiYIN'z is the result of all the crazy life experiences that have brought me to this very yogic moment. I practiced yoga with video tapes in my home for over 16 years before I ever stepped foot into an actual yoga class. I fell in love immediately. I was very inflexible compared to most and still am. I struggle with tightness and soreness daily from two scoliotic curves in my spine and no curve in my neck. My hips are cockeyed ;) and one leg is longer than the other. Oh and my right shoulder droops a ways down too. I'm a hot mess. But that's ok. I was on a journey of wanting more..so after years of Hatha or Yang Yoga and even getting certified as a teacher, I tried some Yin. I HATED it. LOATHED it. We were still...for a really really long time. We didn't move. My type A personality was telling me I needed to go go go. Where was the flow? Where were the crazy arm balance party poses to impress everyone? Why weren't we working on handstand? I vowed to never do Yin Yoga again after that 1st fateful class. And I didn't. For almost 1.5 years. Then I did. And I did and did and did...and after 6 months...it dawned on me one day during a pose that I despised with tears rolling down my face...I have fallen in love with Yin Yoga. Why you may ask? Because it opened up my body like no other yoga has. It passed my muscles and got deep into my bound up connective tissue. It not only gave me the physical release of tension I had so been looking for, even after years of Hatha Yoga, but also gave me my emotional release...forced me to face my stressors and be still and quiet my mind as they came up during the long holds in my practice. It taught me that being present is easy...but STAYING present is really hard.

I am a 200 hour registered teacher with Yoga Alliance. I trained under Sherri Youngblood, 500 RYT and owner of Sage Yoga School, right here in Little Rock. I encourage people to have fun in my class and not take themselves so seriously. I play just about any style of music during class, but you won't find any elevator music here folks. Practicing yoga of all styles along with cooking and eating are my passions. You can usually find me busting out a handstand in the goofiest locations or practicing yoga on my Kick Ass Deck.
